NICK BAINES

CEO & Co-Founder , Nara Communications

Why did you or the person who submitted you feel it was important to enter these Awards?

PR Week is the most authoritative media outlet for our industry so we were always keen to enter these Awards. They carry huge clout and - having set up our PR agency only a couple of years ago - being included on the list was great validation for our team's hard work.

Why should people enter this coming year?

PR people can famously be quite bad at PR-ing themselves. These Awards provide a great opportunity to get some industry recognition. It was fun, if not a bit odd, to be the recipient of coverage for a change!

Why did you or the person who submitted you feel it was important to enter these Awards?

Being listed in the PR Week 30 Under 30 provides public recognition and credibility to your work, both in the industry and beyond. Not only is this a great way to benchmark your own success against your peers, but can also provide a trust mark for you to demonstrate expertise clients – this is particularly important in an industry that is becoming increasingly virtual and global.

Why should people enter this coming year?

Participating in the awards can be a reflective experience. It encourages nominees to assess their accomplishments – a process that can often be overlooked in such a fast-paced field.

What's been the biggest impact in making the 2023 PRWeek 30 under 30 list?

My colleagues and wider network have so kind about the Award since winning, but more widely it’s been a reminder to keep chasing and making creative and inspiring work. And obviously an absolute winner for the CV too!

Why should people enter this coming year?

We work unbelievably hard in this sector and time passes so quickly on the job that’s it’s easy to forget what you’ve achieved in your career. Having it all written down for you to reflect on what you’re capable of is a great way to stay motivated and hungry for more.

SHANNON WALKER

Founder & Chief Executive Officer, Social Disruption

What's been the biggest impact in making the 2023 PRWeek 30 under 30 list?

It's been an honour to be acknowledged on a list I've aspired to be part of since my uni days as an 18-year-old undergraduate studying PR. The biggest impact of making the 2023 PRWeek 30 Under 30 list has been the heightened visibility it brings. Being recognised on this prestigious list opens doors to a plethora of wonderful new opportunities. The increased visibility can lead to expanded professional networks, career advancement, and exposure to exciting projects within the public relations industry. I have also made new industry friends as we've connected to celebrate each other as well as new business opportunities from clients getting in touch from finding myself and Social Disruption listed.

AMY STONE

Senior Communications Consultant, Hard Numbers

What tips or advice do you have for people looking to enter this year?

Think about impact. How have you made an impact in your role, your team or your company? Or perhaps even on the industry itself. Include that in your entry. Too often in PR we focus on the small metrics for success and forget that it's the long-term impact that really matters and shows off our skill. If you can show the impact you're making in words, you'll have a really strong entry for others to contend with.

What's been the biggest impact in making the 2023 PRWeek 30 under 30 list?

Expanding my network has been the biggest impact, I connected with all my fellow 2023 30 under 30's but a lot of previous winners also reached out to congratulate and connect with me. It's like a little club I'm now a part of and we all know how importing networking is in PR!

JESSIE BROOKES

Influencer Lead, Golin

Why are these Awards important to the Public Relations industry?

They’re a great time to reflect on the work that is coming from the next generations, and make them feel heard. We award so many campaigns and agencies across the board, but we have to remember the people too. This award is a goal for so many and really helps to keep you inspired when you’re building your career in PR, making it a motivated and exciting field to work in.

What's been the biggest impact in making the 2023 PRWeek 30 under 30 list?

Visibility of the other amazing things happening in the industry. Through the awards process, I’ve met some real role models, made connections who have helped me progress my work even further, and have also boosted my confidence dramatically. Sidenote, it’s pretty class when people address you at events by saying ‘I read your interview!’. If nothing else, enter for the vibes.
